Total: 1 hour and 15'
Ingredients
Serves: 8-10
350 g. flour + a little more for the mold
a little salt
1 tbsp. baking powder
250 g. butter, softened at room temperature + a little more for the mold
250 g. sugar
4 eggs
250 g. yogurt, whole
100 ml freshly squeezed and strained orange juice
zest of 1 large orange
powdered sugar for sprinkling (optional)
Procedure
To make orange yogurt cake, first preheat the oven to 160°C. Then, in a bowl, mix the flour, salt and baking powder. In the mixer bowl, beat the butter and sugar with a whisk until fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. The mixture may seem "chopped" at this stage, but gradually, with the addition of the remaining ingredients, it will bind again. Add the yogurt alternately with the juice, beating until incorporated into the mixture. Pour the flour mixture into the bowl, in three batches, and beat on low speed until incorporated. Finally, add the zest and mix gently with a rubber spatula. Butter and flour a medium round cake pan with a hole in the center. Pour the mixture into it, filling it three-quarters full.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes. We test to see if it is ready: we dip the blade of a knife and if it comes out dry and clean, it is ready, otherwise we bake for a few more minutes. We remove from the oven. We let the cake cool and unmold. If we want, we sprinkle the cake with sifted icing sugar.
