The 23rd of April has been established internationally by UNESCO as World Book Day, dedicated to two great creators of world literature who "left" on the same day (23 April 1616) from life, William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes.
UNESCO's ambition is for this celebration to be a springboard for new actions and opportunities to promote reading, to function as a unique vehicle for learning, entertainment and personal progress, through which the much-needed cause of education and culture, which are overlooked nowadays as never before, will be promoted.
