Ingredients
500 grams of all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon mixed spices *
300 grams of brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1 teaspoon of cocoa
2 vanilla sticks
½ orange zest
20 grams of orange juice (2 tablespoons)
1 pinch of salt
250 grams of butter
* Spice mix: Mix cinnamon powder, ground nutmeg, ginger powder, clove powder (all one teaspoon each, mix very well and only use one teaspoon of the final mixture in the recipe)
Implementation
Gently beat the butter (at room temperature) with the sugar, eggs, salt, juice and zest from the orange. Finally, add the flour into which we have poured the spice mixture, vanilla, cocoa, Baking Powder and mix well and prepare the dough.
Let the dough rest for about half an hour. Open a 2 cm thick sheet on a lightly floured surface, cut out various Christmas shapes, place them on baking paper and bake them in the air in a preheated oven at 160-170 for 20 minutes.
Tip: We can decorate them with icing or melt chocolate coating and dip them in. Another nice option is to add food coloring to the frosting and paint them. In an airtight glass jar they can be kept for 6 months.
For the glaze: 200 gr. powdered sugar, 1 egg white to thin the mixture (depending on the grams of the egg, add sugar).
