The benefits of sleeping in a cold room.

The idea of sleeping in a cold room may scare most of us, but the benefits to our health are varied.

Room temperature can disrupt cortisol and melatonin levels, thus affecting our internal clock and heart rhythms. High temperatures are also related to dry eyes, as a dry atmosphere is created due to heating of the air while at the same time the humidity decreases.

The results of a study published in the National Library of Medicine show us that sleeping in a cool place with cool bedding benefits our health, our mood and prolongs the aging process.

Antiaging

A cool room helps the body produce melatonin, a substance that, among other things, helps a lot in anti-aging. Other benefits of melatonin in our body are:
1) Good mood
2) Weight adjustment
3) Good brain function
4) Anti-cancer properties
5) Correct menstrual cycles

Better sleep

Low temperatures help to stabilize body temperatures, resulting in less sweating and better quality sleep.

It reduces stress and improves mood

Cortisol is directly linked to stress and cold temperatures have been proven to reduce cortisol levels in the body. Chronic stress creates long-term health complications such as depression, weight disorders, stomach problems, difficulty remembering and concentrating.

Reduces disease rates

The connection of respiratory problems with cold temperatures has been disproved by scientists, except of course for very cold temperatures. On the contrary, resting in cold rooms mitigates the risk of developing diseases, due to the increase in insulin, reducing the possibility of diabetes.

Finally, increased melatonin production could help prevent Alzheimer's, as well as other types of dementia. However, scientists do not recommend giving melatonin to the elderly because of the high risk of accidents such as falls.
